Information
Hello! Welcome to this new thread about what to do when filing a Ban Appeal, if you read this whole thread, you'll probably have a better understanding and knowledge before you apply to be in a crew. Make sure whether you're an OP or an Admin you read this whole thread because there might be some dedicated sections for you that you'll need to know. Also, if there is anything i've missed out and you might want me to add, tag me, quote me, comment or PM me and i'll fix it!
Making a Ban Appeal
Want to create a ban appeal, but don't know how to? Well simply, go to the thread "Filing a Ban Appeal", and copy the template from there. Once you've got the template, make sure you answer the questions completely with honest truth, but if it's not honest truth and we find out why your banned, you'll be in big trouble. I literally mean things like saying "Offline Banned" when you just got banned for always griefing etc. We have the logs, if we see you actually doing wrong from there, we know that you're in need of a punishment. Also, if you were permanently banned, please be sure to use the perm ban template and don't lie, we know why you were permbanned because we keep a record of it. Unfairly banned
If you were unfarily banned, we can view our logs and if you were banned by a specific player, we can get them to tell us the reason why you were banned and we can further judge if you are innocent or guilty. In the mean time, I could suggest you to read some rules and protocols so you can try not to get banned from then. How we unban you
Us admins have the role unbanning you or just leaving you banned. If we find that you're guilty, we can unban you if you were truthful in your appeal, aren't a serial griefer, and what you did wasn't a perm bannable offense. If not, you will have to wait out that ban. All bans (that aren't permanent or a range ban) are 0-48 hours minimum to max - therefore, it wouldn't be too much to wait a day or so. If we can prove that you're not guilty, and we can double check that, we will be certainly happy to unban you. This is a note to the admins: Before you ban someone, I have to always stress this; don't ban until you've really proven that player is guilty with enough evidence.

Hello! So, I have noticed that every now and then us admins get a ban appeal or perm-ban ban appeal that is wrong. For example, someone might not use the format correctly, or someone might incorrectly label a perm-ban appeal as just a ban appeal, or visa versa. In this thread, I am hoping to clear up the confusion when filing a ban appeal for TotalFreedom. NOTE: This is only for TotalFreedom. Associated servers can be different and they have nothing to do with bans from here. Everything is separate. If you've been banned on an associated server, go on their forum page and follow the necessary steps in order to become unbanned. What have I gotten banned for?Well, you can get banned for a multitude of different things. Ban appeals are both for OPs who have been banned by accident and for OPs that accidentally committed an offense. Remember, admins should only ban by the conduct policy which can be found here. It's okay if you've done something by accident. Don't make a fuss about it and rage in the shout box; simply make a ban appeal only stating facts and please refrain from causing drama. Another instance is if you've been banned while offline. This is very common among bans, and is usually due to something called a range ban. A range ban is when someone in your area has been banned. People that live near you will have the same range of IP. If this happens, just make a ban appeal and the admins will handle it. How do I file an appeal?
Okay, so we've went over the reasons why you could get banned. Now, I will teach you how to file an appeal. First, identify the type of ban. If it's for five minutes, it's best to just wait it out since by the time you read the appeal template, file it, post it, and wait for an admin to respond, your ban will most likely already be up. This also goes for a ten minute ban. Now, if the ban is a GTFO (24 hour ban), complete the following steps:1. Go on your server list. You should see that the server has a message saying "You have been banned." Regardless of this, attempt to join the server. 2. It will show you a screen of who banned you and what you've been banned for. Keep this open; it will be important later on. 3. Go to the forums and look and read the template, which can be found here. 4. Come to Ban or Admin Suspension Appeals and click "Create Thread" in the upper-right corner. 5. Go back to the template, copy it, and paste it in the new thread. 6. Go to each question and answer it with facts. Remember, don't lie on your ban appeal. It will only make things worse for you. Use the information from Step 2 to help you fill out your ban appeal. 7. Once you're done, double check it to make sure you've answered all the questions provided. 8. Then, click "Create Thread" to the right of your screen. If the ban is a perm-ban (your ban will mention the difference), follow the steps below:
1. Go to the template which can be found here. 2. Come to Ban or Admin Suspension Appeals and click "Create Thread" in the top right corner. 3. Copy and paste the template into the new thread. 4. Answer each question. 5. Once you're done, double check it to make sure you answered everything. 6. Click "Create Thread" to the right of your screen. NOTE: Only file one ban appeal per ban. Your appeal might not get answered to right away; just be patient. Don't make more than one appeal for the same ban. It confuses us admins and furthermore lowers your chances of being unbanned.
NOTE: Your ban appeal may not be accepted. This is when the admin in question believes they banned you for a legitimate reason. In this case, just wait the ban out. Do not file another appeal. Do not make a thread begging to be unbanned. Do not cause unnecessary drama. It won't work.
Thanks for reading. I hope this helps when filing your ban appeal!

Wait, do admins have authority to 'deny' ban appeals? I always thought admins could only decide not to unban players, not take away any chance of them being unbanned by another admin.

No, only the Administrator who banned the player is allowed to 'deny' or let the player remained banned untill the ban list is purged, being a so-called 'denial' for a ban appeal. However, the player usually ends out unbanned if he or she is sincere, I hope this helped! Don't be afraid to PM your Crew trainers or TPaSers if you need training!

I just thought that admins weren't supposed to 'deny' ban appeals no matter who banned them, and instead were supposed to either approve it or choose to not be the one to unban them, but leave it open to other admins. Also, I see some admins deny a ban appeal even when it was sincere.

However, there may be certain cases: As the quote says, it really depends on the type of offense.

Also, I see some admins deny a ban appeal even when it was sincere. A lot of admins don't follow the ban appeal policy. A popular misconception that is passed on from admin to admin is that only the original banning admin is allowed to decide if the player gets unbanned. Sincere ban appeals should always be approved unless you have the feeling that the OP just wants to get back on to continue rulebreaking, though that part of the policy is followed just as uncommonly.

Are you meant to be able to reply here? Some policies and advice threads are left open to allow suggestions and corrections. Ban appeals should always be created in a new thread in this section.

When it is said to them, "Do not cause corruption on the earth," they say, "We are but reformers."
