With some distros all you have to do to break it is install updates... For me, its just setting up a graphical interface so that I can actually use things that I want to use (I.E. YouTube) Most distros come with a GUI, I seriously hope you're not referencing Arch Linux because from what you've been saying on this thread you imply you have no idea how Linux works, meaning you shouldn't be using Arch Linux... If you want Linux stick with Ubuntu which is the most user friendly one available imo. But really there's no point in using Linux over Windows if that's all you want to do anyway, unless you're 1. a developer or 2. paranoid about security (which you shouldn't be because Linux is literally developed by the NSA anyway, well unless you use Tails which modified the kernel afaik).

The reason for me using Linux in the first place is that I like to use different OSes (don't know why, I just do) and the fact that I had gotten one of the core variants of a distro by accident, instead of the version with a GUI and I decided to just stick with it because I knew how to get a GUI onto the core variant. I'm capable of actually using Linux and work with it more or less frequently (My father works with both UNIX and Linux (UNIX a bit more) seeing as he is a UNIX Systems Admin formerly for Dell, but now for NTT Data) and no, this was not the only thing I planned on using it for, that was simply an example. The plan was to use it for running small locally hosted server/forum software and I actually wanted to learn how to do so more on Linux since if I decided to actually use it for a project that isn't locally hosted, it would be done on Linux. What I was implying is that I have terrible luck when using Linux and that it typically breaks when I do stuff like that for whatever the reason is.
