People need to remember that this protest isn't just about George Floyd. George Floyd was simply just the tipping point.
It is unfortunate that places are being vandalized and looted, but what else do people expect when countless peaceful protests have occurred over years and yet there has been very little to no change?

I fully agree with why they're protesting and I support it.
The thing I don't like is how they're doing it. They're destroying shops and buildings from people who've done nothing against them. They could do it because they keep getting ignored. But I've seen numerous people posting on Facebook that they just got a notification that their shop was being attacked. And when they went back to their shop the next day, only a few walls were still there, the rest was all gone. All their effort and work into their shop was gone because people were protesting against racism. And those people didn't even do anything against black people.
Another example was a man who was trying to defend his shop because it was getting attacked by protestors. But there were so many people attacking that they eventually knocked out his teeth, kicked him till he passed out. And when he passed out they even continued kicking him till he was dead. A terrible way to die because you're defending your life's work and some protestors just kill you out of rage.
I fully understand the frustration that's going on, and not only from the racism but also from a lot of people losing jobs from the coronavirus. I get that they're trying to finally stop getting ignored. But either don't destroy buildings or only like police stations or things that have to do with the racism, not buildings from innocent people who spent years into making a business.
People are losing a lot of money and effort from protestors while they've done nothing with racism. They are definitely going too far.

I'm all for the cause, fuck the racist cops.
I really fucking despise the fact they're destroying buildings though. These buildings have nothing to do with the protest and seeing people destroy buildings and loot shit is honestly shameful. I know that big corps can rebuild, but why make them do it? They never wanted this...
The reason I'm so strong-spoken on this is that my American uncle's shop got vandalized and in his current financial status he's unable to rebuild the shop. It's not just my uncle but it's really fucking painful to watch everything he worked for nearly his entire life go to shams because of racist cops. Now the whole family (across the world) is chiming and trying to help him out, we shouldn't need to. I'm all for the protests but not with the riots. How would you like it if you only wanted to do good in the world and your building/home was destroyed?

The message of the protests is good but fuck the rioters. All the people who are rioting are destroying local businesses and given the current economic situation, these rioters are destroying people's livelihoods and people may depend on the businesses in the neighborhood to get things such as food or medicine. I'm sure if people looted the homes of the rioters, I'm sure they'd not be happy. People I'm in contact with are also telling me (and are gun owners) were telling me that they basically joined militias to guard businesses against rioters because of the chaos and police inaction in their neighborhoods.

It is unfortunate that small shops are being vandalized but this is the byproduct of years of oppression. I don’t know if you guys also realize but the community is helping each other out. Many shops have started a go fund me, exceeding the $$ goal, many small shops have spoken out and have said that they were at first hurt but realize that this is more than just a shop vandalized and that it can be rebuilt.
The community is helping each other.

A terrible way to die because you're defending your life's work and some protestors just kill you out of rage. I've seen a lot of people saying this and there are some misconceptions here. He didn't die, he was brought to the hospital and is in stable conception. He had some sort of machette or sword on him and that wasn't his shop. He didn't own it. It's reported that was just the bar he liked to go to. It's unfortunate but the protesters didn't have any weapons on him so they started throwing rocks at him and when he went down they hit him. They should have stopped when he was down tbh. Either way, on the video, you see the rioters get him up and they call the ambulance. Also, unconfirmed, but according to people there he was chasing down protesters with his sword. www.star-telegram.com/news/local/dallas/article243153526.htmlwww.foxbusiness.com/lifestyle/dallas-man-beaten-machete-riot-store

Rioters =/= peaceful protesters. The behaviour seen during mainly the day of peaceful protests should not be conflated with the actions of looting at night.

I honestly haven’t decided how I feel about the rioting, except that I understand both sides (violence vs peaceful). However, I think that the U.S has built up a lot of bad karma (for lack of a better word) over time, for centuries and that this was just the straw that broke the camels back, and unleashed all the anger at once. I won’t participate in riots, but I won’t condemn their actions.
