I think the "oh but history" is a valid reason not to switch. It's annoying to have to migrate everything and setup the forums all over again. Even if the forums are archived, you lose a bit of history/"feeling" because the original posts are no longer on the main forum.
And I agree with wilee: the way the post is worded encourages a positive vote.

Everything is in one place at the moment. If we had a forums elsewhere when the situation with windows occurred, this server would be dead at the moment. These forums are the lifeblood of this community, and there's simply no valid reasons on which we should change. As others have said, if it's not broke then don't fix it

There is nothing wrong with ProBoards aside from any "theme issues" you might have. Unless you can find someone to build, host, maintain and update a forum/website reliably, it would be insanity to try to switch to anything else. We would need so much content remade, reposted, moved and archived in case the inevitable happens. I can do it myself it isn't hard I hate to say it to you, and mean no disrespect by it (If you feel disrespected I mean, its not really my problem) but This lady also thought what she was doing wasn't hard.
You might have the history and experience behind you to make it, but all of this is very intensive and complicated to transfer over smoothly.

As others have said, if it's not broke then don't fix it The server dying from a new forum possibly dying is moot. The original forum would be read-only and that doesn't mean deletion. It could simply be restored by finest or another admin. Losing the new posts would be annoying yes, but if you have people actively archive important posts, it could be somewhat negated. Aside from that, as much as I'd like a new forum, some people don't like change, but while they don't, I do in some cases like this.

And you trust the high school sophomores here to manage the security of every single person on the forum, throw hundreds of dollars at servers and instant persistent cloud backups to guarantee the 99.9% uptime and speed that we already get with ProBoards, and can also perform system, database, and networking maintenance without having a major fuck-up? I think what mibbzz said alone is all that needs to be said, I shouldn't even need to get into the real arguments against this. If you had Windows run a new forum, we would be fucked right now. Sure, the old forum could be restored, but you lose thousands of posts that were made on the new forum, as well as all other databases/tables on it. Vital information lost.

Security and persistent cloud backups are fair. Again, with the latter point of info, backup vital info. But the first two points are big enough to shadow a nicer looking forum.

Clear majority, we're staying with proboards.
